Smarty Pants!

Emily with her glasses-that make her smart, just like Daddy!

Miss-Behaving!

Lately Lauren has turned into a little mischief monkey. Every time I turn around she's into something she shouldn't be. I think some of it comes from watching Emily and thinking she can do everything Emily does. Whatever it is, I have to admit that I do love her adventurous spirit. There's not a lot of things that scare her or make her nervous. I appreciate that about both my girls but could be a sign of crazy things to come. Here are two of her favorites. Summitting her mountain-and looking quite pleased.
Relaxing while eating-she tips her chair all the way the wall and then continuously bangs it against the wall-pleasant.

Happy Easter!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. We loved spending this special holiday with our little family. As I thought about my growing up, my fondest memory of Easter was our family Easter egg hunt at Grandma and Grandpa Hall's. They had a wonderful yard and the adults would hide hundreds of eggs while the kids waited inside. Once they were done, we were released. It was madness but it was so special. At the time the candy and the money filled eggs seemed to be the reason it was so special but now that I am older (and hopefully wiser) I recognize that it was simply the opportunity to be with family, especially on such a special holiday. What a wonderful chance to focus on the life of our Savior and the blessings we have been given.
The best tradition-Easter dresses. (mostly exciting for mom)
The baskets-Lauren not quite sure about it all.

Bubble Time!

Bubbles are one of our favorite activities (and one of the cheapest:) Last weekend we got some cute little guns that produce oodles of bubbles. The girls had a blast!

Watch out, She's ONE!

Lauren had her first birthday yesterday so now she officially thinks she's a big girl. We kept it pretty simple and just had a little party with us. It was really fun. She, of course, loved her cupcake (that's my girls). She went right at it, promptly getting frosting everywhere. She's a pretty aggressive girl, I guess she has to be with Emily to contend with. After cake, we let her open her presents, which she wasn't at all interest in. All she cared about was the video camera that Jason was trying to film her with. She gots lots of fun toys, clothes and books, thanks to generous grandma's and grandpa's. We got her a little baby since she is always trying to take Emily's. It probably won't make a difference but we can always try! So now she can not only just think she's like Emily, she actually can be.

Give it to me:)
True Happiness!
The big helper-you would have thought it was her birthday.

Loving a baby like only Lauren can.

The girls and their babies!

La Brea Tar Pits

After Emily's haircut on Saturday, we went into L.A. to the George Page Musuem and the La Brea Tar Pits. It's something we've wanted to do for a while, so we finally got there. It was a really cool place. It's amazing to see all of the different species of animals that they've excavated out of the tar. The museum does a really good job of explaining everything before you go out to the actual tar pits. Anyway, if you're ever in the area, this is a really neat place to visit. This replica actually moves-which totally freaked Emily out!
Checking out the tar pits.

Just A Trim...

Ok, so it was a little more than a trim but it was much needed. Emily got her first real haircut on Saturday. She's had some little trims but only by mom (and probably not very good.) We went to a cute little place with cars and animals to ride while you got your haircut. I thought this might make the whole experience a little easier. Despite the picture of her looking happy in the car, that is not accurate evidence to how the experience went. We had talked all about getting our haircut and how is doesn't hurt and how she would get a balloon and so on. She was totally set....until we walked into the salon. Then the panic hit. She refused to get in a chair, finally agreed to sit on my lap while her hair was cut, freaked out when they tried to put the apron on.....we had a little chat, some candy promised, put a Thomas movie in and finally we were able to complete the haircut. The aftermath pictures are so cute, but like all good things in life, it required some major work. And of course, everyday since then she's asked to go back and get her hair cute more. Figures!

The cars were much more appealing after the haircute ordeal!
Never a normal smile:)
