Girls Day at the Aquarium..

So Thursday I thought I would be adventurous and head down to the Long Beach Aquarium with the girls. We are members and go a lot with Jason on weekends but we've never gone during the day. What an adventure! First of all, I didn't realize that this weekend was the Long Beach Grand Prix and they were setting up the track all around the aquarium which tripled the amount of time it took just to get into the aquarium. But we made it in. When we got in, I was shocked by the amount of kids running around. I was talking to a lady working there and she told me they were expecting 1600 school kids on field trips that day alone. Yikes. Needless to say it was crowded, but we still had a great time. This is the first time I've gone somewhere like this since Lauren started walking and let me tell you, that added a new twist. She was anywhere and everywhere as fast as her chubby, little legs would carry her. She was so fascinated by being able to be up close to the fish, it was so fun to watch. Emily, as always, loves the touch tank and the Lorikeets (birds). This time she even held her own bird. Brave girl. All and all we had a super fun time but were exhausted by the time we got home.
Emily and her bird.
This is how Lauren spent the day-face plastered to the glass (very sanitary, I'm sure)
Emily with the stingrays-she gets so excited when she touches one!
Sea turtle-one of our very favorites.

And she's off...

Ready, set, go! Lauren is all of the sudden a crazy walker. She has been taking steps for a couple of weeks but all of the sudden in the last few days she has just taken off. She is so INDEPENDENT! She won't hold your hand, hold the wall, or go the way your going. She has to do everything by herself. It's a little scary because I thought Emily was really indenpendent but she's nothing compared to Lauren. She's already had more bumps and bruises than Emily has ever had because she just goes non-stop and wants to go the same speed as Emily. I have to admit that I am excited to not have to scrub the knees of all her clothes anymore but I know this is going to be a crazy adventure with her. She goes so fast I have a hard time setting her up and getting back to take the picture.

Cousin Fun!

Two weeks ago, the girls and I went to Deborah's for the week to play. Diana and her kids were down for spring break so it was a great chance for the girls to play with their cousins. We had a great week. Emily was in heaven with so many kids to play with. I felt like I hardly saw her since she was always running off to play somewhere. It was great entertainment for her. Last week we had a little bit of cousin "withdrawal" , she wasn't quite sure what to do with so many kids to play with. As for me, it is always so fun when I have a chance to spend time with my sisters. Special thanks to Deborah for hosting the party.
