We're Back!

It's been a crazy month, thus the lack of posting but hopefully we'll be better and we'll get you sufficiently caught up.

Happy Birthday!

Both Jason and Emily celebrated their birthdays on the 13th. After a very busy weekend, we had a nice low key evening. We went out for a great dinner and came home to some cake and ice cream. Of course, Emily was super excited about all of her gifts. She's a very lucky girl with grandparents and a great-grandma that love her and spoil her lots and lots. She got lots of fun things but if you ask her what she got for her birthday, most likely she'll tell you balloons (Jason got her some.) Jason was also well taken care of for his birthday. He's such a good sport about sharing his birthday with his little girl. Needless to say it's been a very busy couple of weeks but it was nice to finish it off with a little celebration.

Happiest Place on Earth!

Besides a few other places I can think of, Disneyland was a pretty happy place. Except if you ask Emily and she'll tell you most of the rides (including Winnie the Poohs Honeypots) were too scary. I think it's because most start out dark but I'm not really sure. Despite her reservations about some of the rides, we had a great day at Disneyland with my brother and his family. My favorite part is that Emily loves the simple things. Her excitement came from meeting all of the characters. She got to see Flick and Princess Ada, Pluto, Rabbit, Cruella (one of her personal favs-weird, I know), Minnie, Mickey, Pooh and Eyore. I love that she loves that. We now have annual passes, so she's excited to make repeat visits often. All and all we had a wonderful time.

Just Married!

Congrats to my nephew Stephen and his cute wife Maria! We were able to attend their wedding last weekend in San Diego. It's always so nice to attend a wedding and just be reminded of how lucky we are. We had a great time with family and as always Deborah pulled off a wonderful party! In addition to the wedding, my niece Madeline was baptized and we got to spend Mother's Day with my mom. What a special weekend. Thanks to all!

A little sisterly love!

The other night I had to go to Young Women's and Lauren was pretty upset. But like a good sister, Emily took care of her. Jason said she stayed like this for a long time and finally fell asleep. These are the moments that melt a mom's heart!

Fun in the Sun!

The Pool Is Open! So this could be a good thing or it could be a major pain this summer. For those of you who haven't seen where we live, we are right above the pool. In the winter, it's nice and peaceful, but in the summer it's definately lively. We've already been to the pool several times since it opened and the girls love it but now everytime Emily hears or sees kids in the pool she begs to go swimming. There are some moms in the complex that just send their kids EVERYDAY! Which means my little girl is begging EVERYDAY. It could be a very long summer. It doesn't help that most of the kids know Emily and yell "Emily come swim." In response she yells back "My mom won't let me." Makes me look like a big meany. Jason has worked hard with Emily and she is a great little swimmer. She'll go all over the pool (with her lifejacket.) Lauren mostly likes to sit on the side and splash. She thinks she's pretty hot stuff.
Look at that figure!
Emily loves to run and jump.
Don't forget the sunscreen.

Cause & Effect!

These pictures are just a little snipet of Lauren's life right now......climbs on (fill in the blank), falls and hurts (fill in the blank).
This day's adventure.....the dishwasher
This days injury.....black eye!

2 Accident Free Days!

(for obvious reason there will be not pictures with this post.) So we have been a little off the radar because we started potty training this week. This has been something I have dreaded. In fact, I think I'm probably the one who has held up the process just because I wasn't ready for the whole ordeal. Well.....(now that hindsights 20/20) it has actually not been too bad. Sunday and Monday were challenging. Monday night I started thinking that maybe diapers weren't THAT expensive. We had plenty of accidents and I was sort of thinking maybe she wasn't ready yet. But she has proved us wrong. She has been such a champ the last couple of days. As of right now, she has not had an accident since Tuesday morning, not to mention that she has used the restroom at Costco, the park and at a work meeting with dad. As long as we have her little seat that goes on the big toilet she set to go. Yes, I know, we have to carry it with us, but I've disquised it in a lovely gift bag. It just looks like we carry gifts every where we go. Could be worse. I was pretty adament that she didn't need to use one of those portable pottys but after Monday I started to reconsider. Once again, Emily has been amazing. She's only used her little seat and spared us having to buy (and eventually store) the potty chair. All and all this has been a somewhat pleasant (if that's possible) experience and I have to say that it's been so nice to not change so many diapers. We're so proud of our "big girl" (as she keeps telling us..)
